Resolving authentication issues
Office 365: Recommended Settings
If your organization uses Office 365, we recommend that you use Nylas's Suggested Office 365 settings and allow EAS Connections.
Due to the way Nylas syncs mail with Microsoft accounts (through Exchange ActiveSync) it's possible you may have trouble with the sync if your organization has Intune or another MDM system in place (this includes self-hosted Exchange servers as well as Microsoft's Office 365 cloud offering)
Microsoft Exchange Advanced Settings
By default, Nylas performs autodiscovery to determine what the best server settings are to connect. Sometimes autodiscovery might not work properly and manually entering advanced settings may be required to authenticate.
If the account's Exchange username is different than the email address, enter it in the advanced settings form. A username can be of the format username@domain.com or DOMAIN\username, and is usually the same as your Windows login.
For the Exchange Server, enter the address of your Exchange server, like mail.mydomain.com. This is usually visible in the address bar when logging in to the Outlook Web App.
Talk to your friendly Exchange admin
You might need to reach out to your Exchange or IT admin for the correct connections settings. They should be able to provide the proper connection info for this step.
Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your account, you may need to generate an app password, and can use Microsoft's instructions for how to do that.
How does Retailsphere link to my email?
We use the third-party provider Nylas to link your email to Retailsphere.
Nylas' API connects to your email outbox to send emails. Nylas monitors the Inbox for replies to any of those sent messages and reports the metadata about those replies back to Retailsphere. Retailsphere cannot see the message body of any responses.
Email Security
Nylas is a well-established, US-based company with hundreds of enterprise customers. They have very strong security protocols including SOC 2 Type II certification and Privacy Shield certification.
